On yer bike!

Cycle to workCycling has enjoyed a real upswing in popularity over the past few years. In the recent UK election, you could hardly turn a newspaper page without seeing a politician saddling up and demonstrating their active, green credentials.

As well as playing a part in shameless PR stunts, cycles are a genuinely healthy way to get to work. With a bike, you needn’t worry about filling up with petrol. Finding time and effort to exercise is easy, as it’s in-built to your daily routine.

Of course, there’s the matter of buying the bike in the first place. You can get a new bike for not a great deal of money, although some schools of thought reckon that this is a false economy.

If you fancy shelling out on a mid to high-end bike, a great way of saving money is getting on the government’s ‘Cycle to Work scheme’. It was created for employers to be able to offer their employees the use of bikes as a tax-free benefit. Why not check out the Department for Transport’s website and see what all the fuss is about?

Anyway, I’m off to nip down the shops on my BMX. See you next week for some more ‘wheelie’ big savings.

Ciao for now,

Gio
