Gocompare.com compares things. I know – I was surprised too. It just seemed a bit too obvious…
I took a look at the website when I first got the Gocompare gig and was disappointed to find they didn’t compare really useful stuff such as the annual rainfall in Welsh towns, or the tea dunkability of custard creams versus other (inferior) kinds of biscuit. They compare boring things such as car insurance, home insurance, pet insurance, gas and electricity, and credit cards. That said, the Gocompare team do seem like they’re pretty clever as they claim they may help you save hundreds of pounds on your outgoings if you go compare your insurance and other financial products with them.
They were the first comparison site to compare the product features instead of just prices, and this approach made all the other comparison sites follow their lead, as well as helping to get the team lots of awards. Gocompare has also been recommended by some serious insurance-type people (the British Insurance Brokers’ Association) who think they’re pretty good.
Once I’d reassured myself that it was a good brand to be involved with, I was relieved that I’d made the right decision in turning down the Cillit Bang gig. Although, I do think their pet insurance comparison could do with expanding its horizons – I couldn’t get one quote for my pet Mongoose!!
